Superior relationship management is the most important risk control. ®
Steve is a proven financial services professional who adds consistent value by motivating customers to excellence in their mission effectiveness while working within real-world budgetary, political and efficiency constraints.  As an industry thought-leading risk adviser Steve's twenty-five years of consulting experience and practical recommendations have helped to implement leading practices at over 50 of the largest public pensions and diverse investment organizations across the U.S.

Steve was Director of Finance at the $11 billion IAM National Pension Fund, 401(k) Plan ($400 million) and Benefit Trust Funds (Medical, Vision, Dental).  He was responsible for oversight of all aspects of finance, accounting, and financial reporting for the $11 billion fund.

Additionally, he has two senior internal audit positions under his belt. One, for a NYSE member firm and the other for a large public pension fund.  Steve held the Series 7 and 63 licenses and earned his CPA license in New York.  Steve helped form the Association of Public Pension Fund Auditors (APPFA) and was its Founding President.  He incorporated APPFA and drafted its constitution
and by-laws to preserve the independence and integrity of the organization from undue outside influence.   APPFA actively supports the public pension fund internal audit community.

Steve graduated from business school at UAlbany while working full time and raising a family.  He completed his accounting degree with honors and joined a Big 8 CPA firm after graduation. Later, he taught financial and management accounting in the UAlbany MBA program for ten years.
